The Definition of a Family and Its Members
A family unit is a group of people who, in virtually cases, live together. They share their money and food and are supposed to have care of i another. Its members are either genetically related (like blood brother and sister) or legally jump to each other, for example past marriage. In many cultures, the members of a family have the same or a similar surname.
The family unit in accordance to the Catholic doctrine is treated in many articles of the Catechism of the Catholic Church starting from the article 2201. [ane]
A family unit is said to be society's smallest unit, its nucleus. Family life is more private and intimate than public life. But in nearly countries there are laws for it. For example, there are restrictions for marrying inside the family unit and bans for having a sexual relationship with relatives, especially with children.
Types of families [change | change source]
Three types of family unit on the bones of size
are: nuclear family unit, single-parent family and extended family.
- A nuclear families is made upwards of parents and one or more children living together.
- A single-parent family is one where there is one parent and 1 or more children.
- An extended family unit or joint families ways father, mother, daughters, sons, grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. In many countries including China, Pakistan and Republic of india, extended or articulation families traditionally alive together.
Both the "nuclear family" and the "unmarried-parent family" are also called the "firsthand family".
Foster families are families where a child lives with and is cared for by people who are not his or her parents.
Closeness [change | alter source]
Some family members are related closer to each other. Consanguinity is a style of measuring this closeness.
